The meaning

What Abu Bakr means in Islam

He is called as-Siddiq, the one who confirms, for believing the night journey without hesitation when others scoffed. He freed Bilal and other tortured slaves with his own money, and the Prophet appointed him to lead the prayer in his final illness. His caliphate lasted about two years and was mostly spent holding the community together through the wars of apostasy; he also ordered the Qur'an gathered into a single written copy. He is buried beside the Prophet.
