The meaning

What Imam Muslim means in Islam

He was from Nishapur and died in 261, a few years after his teacher. He held that two narrators living in the same period with the possibility of meeting is enough, without proof of an actual meeting, which is the main methodological difference between the two books. He gathered every chain of a hadith in one place instead of scattering them, which makes his book easier to study. His introduction is a short treatise on hadith criticism and is still read on its own.
