The meaning

What Hijrah means in Islam

The word means to leave something behind and cut ties with it. He left with Abu Bakr, hid three nights in the cave of Thawr while Quraysh searched, and reached Madinah to build a mosque and a community that could finally live its faith openly. Umar later chose this event, not the Prophet's birth or the first revelation, as year one, because it was the moment the community became a community. The Prophet also said the true muhajir is the one who leaves what Allah forbade.
