The meaning
What Jinn means in Islam
The Qur'an gives them a surah of their own (Qur'an 72), reports a group of them listening to the recitation and accepting it, and says they were created from a smokeless flame of fire (Qur'an 55:15). They eat, they marry, they die, and they will be judged. They are not the spirits of dead humans, and they are not behind most of what gets blamed on them.
