The meaning

What Al-Ghayb means in Islam

The Qur'an opens by describing the God-fearing as those who believe in the unseen (Qur'an 2:3). It covers Allah Himself, the angels, the jinn, the grave, the Day of Judgement, Paradise and the Fire. Scholars call these matters sam'iyyat, things received by report, because reason can accept them but could never have discovered them. Claiming private access to the unseen, through stars or cards or spirits, is claiming something the Qur'an reserves to Allah.
