The meaning

What Adhab al-Qabr means in Islam

The Qur'an describes the people of Fir'awn exposed to the Fire morning and evening before the Hour comes (Qur'an 40:46), and many sound hadiths describe the grave as either a garden of Paradise or a pit of the Fire. Ahl al-Sunnah affirm it as real without claiming to know how it works upon a body that has decayed or was never buried. The Mu'tazila denied it; the Sunni schools do not.
