The meaning
What Nubuwwah means in Islam
The Qur'an names many prophets and says every nation was sent a warner. A rasul is usually described as one sent with a new law or to a rejecting people, and a nabi as one continuing a law already given, though scholars word the distinction in different ways. Prophets are protected in conveying the message, a quality called ismah. Muhammad peace be upon him is the seal of them, so no prophet comes after him (Qur'an 33:40).
