The meaning

What Zamzam means in Islam

Left in a dry valley with her baby, Hajar ran seven times between two hills looking for help, and water broke open at the child's feet. The name is said to come from her words as she banked the sand to hold it in. The well was lost for centuries and rediscovered by Abd al-Muttalib, the Prophet's grandfather. The Prophet said Zamzam water is for whatever it is drunk for, which is why people drink it with an intention rather than out of habit.
