The meaning

What Imam al-Bukhari means in Islam

Born in 194, he lost his sight as a child and had it restored, and began memorising hadith before he was ten. He travelled for years across the Muslim world collecting reports, and required proof that a narrator had actually met the person he quoted, a stricter condition than most. Beyond the Sahih he wrote al-Adab al-Mufrad on manners and at-Tarikh al-Kabir on narrators. He died in exile near Samarqand in 256, after a dispute over a theological question.
