The meaning

What Muhajirun means in Islam

The singular is muhajir, one who cuts ties and moves. They arrived with nothing and the Qur'an praises them alongside the Ansar as the first and foremost. Emigration from Makkah specifically ended with the conquest, when the Prophet said there is no hijrah after the opening, but striving and intention remain. He also defined the muhajir in a wider sense: the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden.
