The meaning
What Masjid an-Nabawi means in Islam
The first thing he did on arriving was buy the land and build it, with palm trunk pillars and a roof of fronds, and the poor Companions who had no home slept along its back wall. His own rooms opened onto it, and he was buried in Aishah's room, which later expansions brought inside the walls, under what is now the green dome. He said a prayer in it is better than a thousand prayers elsewhere, except in the Sacred Mosque.
