What Shi'b Abi Talib means in Islam
Quraysh hung a written pact in the Ka'bah agreeing to no trade and no marriage with Banu Hashim until they surrendered him. Believer and unbeliever of the clan were shut in together, living on what sympathisers smuggled past the guards, and children's crying could be heard outside. It broke when several Quraysh who had never been comfortable with it tore the document up. Khadijah and Abu Talib both died soon after, in what is called the Year of Sorrow.
