The meaning
What Maqam Ibrahim means in Islam
The Qur'an commands that the station of Ibrahim be taken as a place of prayer, and pilgrims pray two units behind it after tawaf. The marks on the stone are traditionally described as the impressions of his feet. It is a landmark and a reminder, not a relic with power: it is not touched, kissed or wiped for blessing, and the two units are prayed towards the Ka'bah, not towards the stone.
