The meaning

What Bay'at al-Aqabah means in Islam

They were made at a mountain pass near Mina during the pilgrimage season. In the first, twelve men promised to worship none but Allah and to keep away from theft, adultery, infanticide and slander, and Mus'ab ibn Umayr was sent back with them as teacher. A year later roughly seventy men and two women pledged to protect him as they would protect their own families, knowing exactly what it would cost. Within months the Muslims of Makkah began slipping away to Madinah.
