The meaning
What Islam means in Islam
The word comes from a root carrying both surrender and peace, and the Qur'an calls it the religion with Allah (Qur'an 3:19). In the hadith of Jibril, islam is answered with the five pillars, iman with the six articles of belief, and ihsan with the quality of worship. So islam is the outward frame, iman the inner conviction, and ihsan the finish on both.
