The meaning
What Sur means in Islam
The Qur'an says the horn is blown and everyone in the heavens and the earth falls dead except whom Allah wills, then it is blown a second time and they are standing, looking on (Qur'an 39:68). The angel entrusted with it is named Israfil in the hadith literature. Reports describe him holding it to his mouth, head inclined, waiting for the command.
