The meaning
What Sirat means in Islam
It is described in the long hadith of intercession in Bukhari and Muslim: people pass over it like lightning, like the wind, like a running horse, or crawling, and some are seized along the way. The Qur'an speaks of every one of you coming to it (Qur'an 19:71), which many commentators read as this crossing. The same word in Surah al-Fatihah means the straight path in this life, a different sense of one root.
