The meaning
What Jumu'ah means in Islam
The Qur'an commands believers to leave off trade and hurry to the remembrance of Allah when the Friday call is made. It is obligatory on adult resident men who are able to attend, and not obligatory on women, travellers or the sick, though all may attend. Whoever misses it prays Dhuhr as normal.
