The meaning
What Hayd means in Islam
Prayers missed in these days are not made up, but fasts of Ramadan are. Nifas is the parallel state of bleeding after childbirth and carries the same rulings. Bleeding outside these two, called istihadah, does not excuse prayer or fasting. The schools differ over the minimum and maximum days of hayd, which changes when a woman resumes worship, so local guidance matters here.
