The meaning

What Jannah means in Islam

The word means a garden covered over by its own foliage, and the Qur'an describes rivers, shade and gardens, then says the pleasure of Allah is greater than all of it (Qur'an 9:72). A sacred hadith describes what is in it as what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has imagined. Firdaws is named as its highest part, beneath the Throne. In Sunni belief its greatest gift is the sight of Allah Himself.
