The meaning

What Wird means in Islam

The word means a turn at a watering place. In practice a wird is a small fixed amount, a page of Qur'an, a number of salawat, a set of adhkar, repeated every day at the same point. The principle behind it is the prophetic teaching that the deeds most loved by Allah are the constant ones, even if small. Sufi orders assign a specific wird through a shaykh; outside that setting a person simply chooses their own and keeps it.
