What Istiqamah means in Islam

When a man asked for a statement he would not need to ask anyone else about, the Prophet peace be upon him said, say I believe in Allah, then be upright, in Muslim. The Qur'an promises that angels descend on those who say our Lord is Allah and then remain steadfast (Qur'an 41:30). He also said the deeds most beloved to Allah are the most constant, even if they are few, in Bukhari and Muslim, which is the shape istiqamah usually takes in practice.
