The meaning
What Tabarruk means in Islam
The Companions sought blessing through the person of the Prophet peace be upon him, his hair and the water left from his wudu, which is established in Bukhari and Muslim. Everyone agrees that the blessing itself comes from Allah alone. Scholars disagree about extending the practice after his death to graves, relics and living righteous people, some permitting it within limits, others treating it as a door that opens onto shirk. All sides agree that asking the object itself for anything is not tabarruk but worship of it.
