The meaning
What Udhiyah means in Islam
It is offered after the Eid prayer on the tenth of Dhul Hijjah and through the days of tashriq. The Hanafis hold it obligatory on whoever has the means; the other three schools call it a confirmed sunnah. The meat is customarily divided in three, for the household, for relatives and neighbours, and for the poor, though that division is a practice rather than a fixed ruling. It is not the same as the hady, the sacrifice a pilgrim offers as part of Hajj.
