The meaning
What Tamattu' means in Islam
In tamattu' you complete umrah, come out of ihram and wait, then enter ihram again for hajj on the eighth. In qiran you hold both in a single unbroken ihram, and in ifrad you perform hajj alone. Tamattu' and qiran require a hady; ifrad does not. The schools differ over which is best, and tamattu' is what most pilgrims on organised trips perform.
