The meaning

What Sujud means in Islam

Seven parts touch the ground: the forehead with the nose, the two palms, the two knees, and the toes of both feet. The Prophet said a servant is nearest to his Lord in sujud, and told us to make much supplication there. It is the posture the whole prayer is built around, not a formality between recitations.
