The meaning

What Rak'ah means in Islam

Prayers are counted in rak'ahs. Fajr is two, Maghrib is three, and Dhuhr, Asr and Isha are four each. Within one rak'ah you stand and recite, bow, rise, prostrate, sit, and prostrate again. The plural is raka'at, which is why you will hear both forms.
