The meaning

What Sujud al-Tilawah means in Islam

Copies of the Qur'an mark these verses in the margin. Depending on the school they are counted as eleven, fourteen or fifteen. It is one prostration, done inside or outside prayer, and it is recommended rather than required for most scholars. A related act is sujud ash-shukr, a prostration of thanks on receiving good news.
