The meaning
What Sujud al-Sahw means in Islam
They cover adding a posture, leaving out a required part, or losing count. The Prophet said that when a person is unsure, he should settle on the lower number and make the two prostrations. The schools place them differently, before or after the closing salam depending on the kind of mistake, so follow what your local imam does rather than assuming an error.
