The meaning
What Salawat means in Islam
The Qur'an says Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet, and instructs the believers to do the same (Qur'an 33:56). He said, peace be upon him, that whoever sends one blessing upon him, Allah sends ten upon that person, in Muslim. The fullest wording is the one taught inside the tashahhud, known as the Ibrahimic form. Elaborate composed litanies of salawat circulate in some traditions, and scholars differ on using them in place of the narrated wording.
