The meaning
What Janabah means in Islam
A person in this state is called junub. Until they wash, prayer and tawaf are not performed and, for most scholars, the Qur'an is not recited or carried. The Qur'an mentions it plainly alongside the verse on wudu, and there is nothing shameful in it; it is simply a state with a known remedy. If water is unavailable, tayammum stands in for the ghusl.
