What Tawhid means in Islam

The word means to make one, or to declare one. Surah al-Ikhlas states it in four short lines: He is One, the Eternal Refuge, He does not beget and was not begotten, and there is nothing comparable to Him (Qur'an 112). Tawhid is not only the claim that one God exists. It is that only He is worshipped.
