The meaning

What Ghadab means in Islam

A man asked the Prophet peace be upon him for advice and was told, do not become angry, and the man kept asking and got the same answer, in Bukhari. He also said the strong man is not the wrestler, but the one who controls himself when angry, in Bukhari and Muslim. The practical instructions include seeking refuge from Shaytan and sitting down if you are standing, in a report collected by Abu Dawud. The Qur'an praises those who restrain anger and pardon people (Qur'an 3:134), which is restraint, not absence.
