The meaning
What Akhlaq means in Islam
The Qur'an describes the Prophet peace be upon him as being upon a great character (Qur'an 68:4), and he said he was sent to complete good character, in a report from Imam Ahmad. He also said the most complete believers in faith are the best of them in character, in Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi. Scholars hold that character can be trained, which is the whole reason tazkiyah exists. Nobody is stuck with the temper they were born with.
