The meaning
What Dam means in Islam
The word means blood. It is usually a sheep or goat, slaughtered in the sanctuary and given to the poor there, and for some breaches a person may instead fast or feed the needy. The schools differ over which acts are required rather than recommended, so an omission that costs a dam in one school may cost nothing in another. A dam repairs a shortfall; a hady is part of the pilgrimage itself.
