The meaning

What Barakah means in Islam

The Qur'an speaks of blessings opened from the sky and the earth for a town that believes (Qur'an 7:96), and quotes Isa saying he was made blessed wherever he is (Qur'an 19:31). Barakah attaches to time, food, wealth, knowledge and people, and it is not measured in quantity: an hour with barakah does the work of three. The Sunnah connects it with naming Allah before eating, honesty in trade, early mornings, and gratitude.
