The meaning
What Shukr means in Islam
The Qur'an promises increase to those who are grateful (Qur'an 14:7). Scholars describe shukr working in three places at once: the heart admits where the gift came from, the tongue says it, and the limbs do not use the gift against the One who gave it. The Prophet peace be upon him also said that whoever does not thank people has not thanked Allah, in Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi.
