The meaning
What Muraqabah means in Islam
The Qur'an says He is nearer to a person than his jugular vein (Qur'an 50:16), and that He is ever a watcher over you (Qur'an 4:1). It is the practical side of ihsan as the Prophet peace be upon him defined it to Jibril: worship Allah as though you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then He sees you, in Bukhari and Muslim. Muhasabah looks back at the deed. Muraqabah stands inside it.
