The meaning

What Asharah Mubashsharah means in Islam

They are Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Talhah, az-Zubayr, Abd ar-Rahman ibn Awf, Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, Sa'id ibn Zayd and Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah. The point is not that only ten were promised Paradise; others, including Khadijah, Fatimah, Bilal and the people of Badr, were given similar news in separate reports. These ten are simply the ones listed in a single hadith, which is why they are remembered as a set.
