The meaning
What Al-Arba'in al-Nawawiyyah means in Islam
It is called the Forty and usually contains forty two, since al-Nawawi added a couple beyond his original count. He chose reports that each carry a large share of the religion, opening with the hadith on intention. Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali added eight more and wrote the standard commentary, Jami' al-Ulum wa al-Hikam.
