The meaning
What Mursal means in Islam
The missing man is almost always a Companion, and Companions are held to be trustworthy, which is why the schools differ here rather than simply calling it weak. Hadith specialists generally class mursal as weak. In law, the Hanafis and Malikis accept it, al-Shafi'i accepts it only when another route supports it, and reports from Ahmad show acceptance with conditions. Later scholars also separated the mursal of the senior followers, which is stronger, from that of the juniors.
