The meaning
What Riwayah bi al-Ma'na means in Islam
This is why the same event appears with different phrasing in different books. The majority allowed it for someone who knows Arabic precisely and understands what the words are doing, while a strict minority insisted on the wording as heard. Certain texts were held back from it, such as the supplications the Prophet taught word for word.
