Ad-Dajjal

One-eyed, marked kafir, forty distorted days, and a paradise that is a fire: the final exam of appearances.

The account

The full account stands at its Path chapter; this seal keeps the marks by which he is known. A young man, ruddy and thick-set, hair in tight curls, blind in his right eye like a floating grape, and between his eyes the letters kaf-fa-ra, read by every believer, literate or not. "There is no trial between the creation of Adam and the rising of the Hour greater than the Dajjal" (Muslim 2946). Every prophet warned of him; ours ﷺ alone mapped him: emergence from the east through the gap between Sham and Iraq, forty days with the first like a year, rain and ruin at his command, a paradise and fire inverted, the youth he kills and revives who then out-argues him.

He is barred from Makkah and Madinah by ranks of angels; Madinah will quake three times and shake its hypocrites out to him. He is already chained: al-Jassasah's island interview (Muslim 2942) records him asking about the palms of Baysan and the lake of Tiberias, counting down his own leash. His end has an address, the gate of Ludd, and an executioner, the son of Maryam.
