The Gate of Ludd
A town gate in Palestine, named fourteen centuries early as the coordinates of the Dajjal's death.
The account
Ludd, ancient Lydda on the Palestinian plain, would be an unremarkable dot on the Codex's map except for one appointment fixed in Sahih Muslim: "the son of Maryam will pursue him and overtake him at the gate of Ludd, and kill him" (Muslim 2937). The longest-running fraud in history, the one-eyed claimant with his mountains of bread and his inverted paradise, ends at a specific municipal gate.
The staging is deliberate humiliation by geography: the being who claimed divinity over the whole earth is run down at the edge of a small town, dissolving "as salt dissolves in water" at the true Masih's breath, finished on a spear whose blood is shown to the believers as evidence. The scholars savored the symmetry: the false messiah dies within sight of the land where the true one's story began, in the blessed region his fraud parodied. For the Codex's reader the gate teaches the end-times' deepest comfort in one image: deception was given the address of its death before the deceiver was ever released. Every lie, this map says, is pre-assigned its gate.
