The meaning
What Zuhd means in Islam
The Prophet peace be upon him told a man to be indifferent to the world and Allah would love him, and to be indifferent to what people own and people would love him, in a report collected by Ibn Majah. Scholars are clear that zuhd is not poverty and not refusing what is lawful; several Companions were wealthy. It is the willingness to lose a thing without losing yourself along with it.
