What Mujahadah means in Islam

The Qur'an promises guidance to those who strive for His sake (Qur'an 29:69). Classical writers describe it as three moves: opposing the appetite, refusing the whisper, and putting the limbs through the act until it becomes a habit. The often quoted line about returning from the lesser jihad to the greater jihad was judged by hadith scholars to have no sound chain, which does not remove the idea itself, since sound texts state it in other words.
