The meaning
What Taharah means in Islam
Books of fiqh almost always begin with taharah, because it is the gate to everything else. It has two sides: removing physical filth from the body, clothes and place of prayer, and lifting the ritual states that block worship. The Prophet called purification half of faith, and the Qur'an says Allah loves those who keep themselves pure.
