The meaning

What Qada means in Islam

One common explanation is that qadr is the eternal measuring and qada is the putting into effect, while other scholars reverse the two. Either way, when the pair is used together they mean one thing: nothing reaches you from outside Allah's knowledge and will. In fiqh the same word means making up a missed prayer or fast, and it also means a judge's ruling, which are different uses of one root.
