The meaning

What Salah means in Islam

The word means connection and supplication. Salah is a fixed sequence of standing, bowing, prostrating and sitting, with recitation from the Qur'an, done at five appointed times between dawn and night. It is the second pillar of Islam and the first act a person is asked about on the Day of Judgement. Persian and Urdu speakers usually call it namaz, which is the same thing.
