The meaning

What Rida means in Islam

The word means to be pleased, and it runs both ways: Allah pleased with the believer and the believer pleased with Him (Qur'an 98:8). Scholars distinguish it from sabr, which holds steady under a blow, while rida no longer wishes the blow away. It applies to what has already been decreed. It does not mean accepting oppression, and it does not stop anyone from seeking a remedy.
